1 · Plain-English summary
The free calculators on Calc My Project work without any sign-in. We don't ask for your name, email, or address to estimate a project. We collect analytics (page views, anonymized IP, broad geography for regional pricing) and run ads. That's it for casual visitors.
If you create a Pro account or submit a Get Matched quote request, we collect the information you give us so we can do the thing you asked for — match you with contractors or charge you for a subscription.
We don't sell your data. Contractors who receive a match request pay us only if you choose to work with them — that's how matching is free for you.
2 · What we collect
Anonymous, from everyone
- Pages visited, calculator inputs (no PII), referring site
- Coarse geo from your IP (state-level, for regional pricing defaults)
- Device, browser, and screen size
Only if you give it to us
- Pro account: name, business name, email, billing address, payment method (stored by Stripe — we never see card numbers)
- Get Matched: name, phone, email, zip code, project description
- Email subscriptions: email address only
3 · How we use it
- To run the calculators, your account, and the matching service
- To improve the product — which calculators are popular, where they fail
- To send transactional email you'd expect (receipts, password resets, match alerts)
- To send occasional product updates (you can unsubscribe in one click)
- To detect abuse and prevent fraud
We do not use your data to train AI models. We do not sell or rent it. We do not let advertisers target you by your saved estimates.
4 · Who we share it with
- Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions
- Fastmail — transactional + product email
- Cloudflare — DDoS protection and CDN
- Plausible — privacy-preserving analytics (no cookies, no PII)
- Matched contractors — only the project info and contact details you submit through Get Matched, only to up to 3 contractors you'd be matched with
5 · Cookies & tracking
We use a small number of strictly-necessary cookies (session, CSRF). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Our analytics provider (Plausible) is cookieless.
Ads on the site are served by Google AdSense, which may set its own cookies. You can opt out at adssettings.google.com.
6 · Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- See what we have on you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your saved estimates as CSV
Email privacy@calcmyproject.net and we'll respond within 30 days.
7 · Retention
- Anonymous analytics: 12 months, then aggregated
- Pro account data: while your account is active, plus 12 months
- Get Matched submissions: 24 months (so we can resolve disputes)
- Email subscriptions: until you unsubscribe
