What this site is, what it isn't, and what you can do with it.
Calc My Project is a set of free, public construction cost calculators and written guides, run by an independent operator in Texas. It is not a contracting company and does not perform work. There is nothing to buy here, no account to create, and no service to sign up for. By using the site you agree to these terms.
Every figure on this site is a general estimate built from published regional cost averages. It is not a quote, not a bid, and not an offer to perform work. A real price comes from a licensed contractor who has inspected your specific project and can see the things we can't — your substrate, your framing, your access, and whatever is behind your walls.
Use our numbers to walk into a bid conversation informed: to understand the line items involved, to ask better questions, and to recognize a bid that's far outside the normal range in either direction. Don't make a financial commitment based only on what a calculator here shows you.
Where our figures rest on an assumption — and on a sight-unseen estimate many of them do — we try to say so on the page, along with the question to put to your contractor.
Each calculator lists the published sources its cost data is drawn from, and the date that data was last reviewed. Our figures include contractor overhead and a contingency allowance, which is why they often read higher than calculators that quietly leave those out. That's deliberate: a number that ignores markup and surprises isn't useful preparation for a real bid.
Prices move. We review our cost data on a schedule and note the review date on each calculator, but a figure can still be out of date or wrong for your market. If you spot one, tell us — corrections from people with local knowledge are the most valuable input we get.
You can use the calculators freely — for your own project, for educating a client, for sanity-checking a bid you're writing or receiving. You can cite our figures in your own work as long as you attribute them and don't claim to be us.
Please don't:
The site design, the calculators, the written guides, and our name and branding belong to us. Our cost figures are compiled and derived from third-party published sources, each of which is credited on the relevant calculator; those underlying sources belong to their respective publishers and we make no claim to them.
Anything you type into a calculator stays yours. It also stays on your device — see the privacy policy.
The site is provided “as is.” We work to keep the cost data current and the math correct, but we don't warrant any particular level of accuracy, availability, or fitness for a specific project. Construction pricing varies by market, by season, by site conditions, and by contractor.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of this site is limited to USD $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including budget overruns on a project you planned using this site.
We may update these terms. The effective date above will change when we do. If we ever add a paid feature, advertising, or a contractor referral service, these terms and the privacy policy will be updated before it goes live.
